Quaker Valley, Sewickley Academy Issue Two-Hour Delay for Wednesday

For the second day in a row, the academy will start classes later than usual.

Sewickley Academy has issued a two-hour delay for Wednesday due to the extremely cold temperatures.  Quaker Valley School District also has announced a two-hour delay for Wednesday for all buildings.  Local schools were also on a two-hour delay Tuesday due to the frigid weather.  A wind-chill advisory issued by the National Weather Service remains in effect until 11 a.m. Wednesday. Temperatures also will be in the single digits to close to zero Wednesday morning, according to weather service. Quaker Valley, Sewickley Academy Plan Two-Hour Delay; Weather Service Issues Wind Chill Advisory

The National Weather Service is warning of extremely cold temperatures in the area.

Quaker Valley School District and Sewickley Academy issued a two-hour delay for classes on Tuesday because of the forecasted snowy weather and extreme cold temperatures. "Due to expected extreme temperatures and wind-chill readings, all schools in the Quaker Valley School District will operate on a two-hour delay," the district announced. The Osborne Elementary HSA meeting that was scheduled for Tuesday morning has been postponed. The district plans to share information with Osborne parents as soon as it is rescheduled. The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory that remains in effect from 10 p.m. tonight to 11 a.m. Wednesday for the Sewickley Valley. With the chill, temperatures are expected to dip 10 to 20 degrees …
