Former County Health Director Bruce Dixon Dies

Dr. Bruce Dixon, the former head of the Allegheny County Health Department, died overnight at UPMC Presbyterian, according to news reports. The county medical examiner's office said Dixon, 74, a Forest Hills resident, died of a blood infection caused by an inflammation of his gallbladder. He was ousted from his job in March 2012 by the county Board of Health, acting at the request of Allegheny County Chief Executive Rich Fitzgerald, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “For over 20 years, Dr. Bruce Dixon was the ultimate public servant, dedicating his life to serving the needs of the residents of Allegheny County through his direction of the Allegheny County Health Department," Fitzgerald said in a statement issued this morning. Driver Contacts Police after Saturday's Hit-and-Run Incident

Moon Police say a man has reported to them that he thought he had struck a deer Saturday night on Moon Clinton Road.

Moon Police said they now have a lead in Saturday's hit-and-run incident that left a 17-year-old girl severely injured on Moon Clinton Road. Police today said Clifford Dilley, 75, of Moon Township, reported to the township police department at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday and said he thought he had struck a deer the night before on Moon Clinton Road. Officers immediately went to Dilley's home to investigate and examine his vehicle, which is a full-size Chevrolet pickup truck. The truck's damage, police say, is consistent with this hit-and-run case. The police report states that Dilley has been cooperative throughout this investigation and agreed to submit blood samples at Heritage Valley Sewickley hospital for testing.
