Former Local Teacher's Invention Could Save Lives in Shooting Incidents
The device won't stop shooters but it can buy time and keep students safer.
Bob Ploskunak, a retired Woodland Hills teacher, has invented a safety device that can prevent shooters from entering school classrooms. The device may of interest to parents and school administrators alike. WTAE-TV reports that Ploskunak's invention, JAMBLOCK, a lightweight piece of steel, can be slipped under a classroom door and secure it in place, preventing intruders from entering. While it doesn't directly protect students, it does buy more time until police arrive at the scene. Yea people can also use dynamite to blow the door or use aerial rockets and AT-4s, we need invisibility cloaks. Do you sense my sarcasm Gilbert? There is no absolute protection if this can make teachers feel more comfortable then its a great invention.   more ›
