Jury Selection Begins in Trial of Man Charged with Raping Women in Ross, Hopewell

Arthur Lamont Henderson has been in the Allegheny County Jail since his arrest a year ago.

Jury selection begins Thursday in the trial of Arthur Lamont Henderson, who is charged with raping and robbing women in Ross and Hopewell a year ago. Henderson, 39, of the North Side, has been in the Allegheny County Jail since his arrest Jan. 20, 2012. The charges against Henderson stem from two 2012 attacks on Ross Township women—one reported Saturday, Jan. 7, at the Woodhawk Club Apartments complex on Johnanna Drive and the other Monday, Jan. 9, at the Cascades Apartment complex off Cemetery Lane. In both cases, women in their mid-20s were attacked early in the morning after returning from walking their dogs, police said.  Hopewell Township Police also filed charges against Henderson for a sexual assault that occurred Jan. 7—the same …

Smallis Faces Trial for Drug Possession, Endangering Children

A former Moon Township woman is headed to trial on a series of drug charges.

A woman is slated to go to trial today on charges she used her children to help her sell drugs from her Moon Township home.  Pamela Smallis, 49, who formerly resided in Moon but now lives in Oakdale, is charged with dozens of counts of drug possession with intent to deliver and endangering the welfare of children, stemming from a series of drug sales monitored by Moon Police in 2011.  In a criminal complaint, police said Smallis met with police informants to sell them marijuana and narcotics on five occasions in 2011, including twice in Sewickley. They said she frequently brought her children along with her while she made drug sales.  Smallis arranged for informants to come to her home on December 16, 2011 at the 300 block of Stocker Drive…
