District Court: Car Theft Suspect Waives Charges in Two Cases

Craig Moore is accused of stealing a car in Aleppo and rummaging through cars in the township and in nearby Sewickley Heights.

An Aleppo man accused of stealing a vehicle and various items from parked cars waived his right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday in two separate cases.  At the request of Steve Colafella, attorney for Craig Anthony Moore, Magisterial Judge Robert Ford agreed to lower Moore's bond to $100 in both cases. Moore remains in Allegheny County Jail on a detainer for a DUI charge for which he has four months' probation, Colafella said. Ohio Township police charged Moore, 27, of Rhodes Avenue, with two counts of theft and one count each of receiving stolen property, access device fraud and providing false identification to law enforcement. District Court: Suspect Waives Business Burglary Charges to Court

A Coraopolis man waived his right to a preliminary hearing last week at District Judge Robert Ford's office on charges that he stole from several Sewickley businesses.   David Jablonsky, 24, is charged with burglary, trespass and theft. His case now is bound over to Allegheny County Common Pleas Court.   Allegheny County Police detectives reported that Jablonsky on Sept. 24 distracted the owners of Yankello’s by inquiring about a television and asking for a remote control. Owner Frank Yankello went to retrieve the remote while Michael Yankello was on the telephone in the back of the business, police said. Police said Jablonsky left the store claiming he would return to purchase a television. Police said the owners found $300 in cash was …

District Court: Registered Sex Offender Waives Hearing

A Swissvale man accused of failing to obey laws regarding registered sexual offenders has waived his right to a preliminary hearing.  Robert Brown, 41, is charged with a single count of failing to comply with registration of sexual offenders requirements. The Allegheny County Sheriff's Department said it began conducting a compliance check on Brown on July 26. When sheriff’s deputies checked his place of employment at 2 Men and a Truck in Haysville, they said they learned Brown had been terminated July 15. Deputies said Brown did not provide information about a current employer, nor did he give notification within 48 hours of a change in job status, as required.  Deputies said Brown was convicted in 2007 and is legally considered to be a …

District Court: Charges Waived for Home Invasion Suspect

Charges have been waived to court by a Sewickley man who police said was stabbed in the abdomen after he attempted to burglarize a home in the borough. Larry Martin, 34, of Dickson Road, will stand trial in Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas on charges of burglary and making terroristic threats Allegheny County Police said Martin reported two people he knew jumped him and stabbed him on June 18 in Sewickley. He was transported to Allegheny General Hospital on the North Side to be treated for a puncture wound to his abdomen and facial cuts, police said. Police said they later learned that Martin was stabbed when he tried to force his way into a home.  Martin also appeared in court Tuesday to face separate charges of tampering with …

A court hearing has been postponed until later this week for a Sewickley man who police said was stabbed in the abdomen after he attempted to burglarize a home. Larry Martin, 34, of Dickson Road, is charged with burglary and making terroristic threats. Leetsdale Magisterial District Judge Robert Ford postponed a preliminary hearing for Martin until July 19 after discovering a conflict with Martin's public defender, who also represents the victim, Charles Ligons, in another case. Ford also ordered the two men to have no contact with one another.  Allegheny County Police reported that county dispatchers received a call at 10:52 p.m. June 18 asking for Sewickley Police to assist someone who had been stabbed in the borough.  Martin met police …

District Court: Charges Reduced in Attempted Theft of Blu-Ray DVDs

A Beaver County man charged with retail theft will spend some time in jail. Leetsdale Police charged Jonathan Boyer, 33, of Conway, with retail theft and receiving stolen property. Police reported that at 2:20 p.m. on June 20, officers received a report from Giant Eagle of an attempted theft. Police said Boyer tried to steal 10 Blu-Ray DVDs valued at $307 from Giant Eagle, but store employees stopped him. Police said Boyer admitted to officers that he tried to take the DVDs. Police said this is Boyer’s fourth arrest for retail theft. Boyer appeared before Magisterial District Judge Robert Ford on Tuesday. Ford warned Boyer to stay away from Giant Eagle and sentenced Boyer to 50 days in jail.    The following people have also been charged …

District Court: Judge Postpones Hearing for Man Charged With Chicken Theft

A preliminary hearing has been postponed until later this month for a Rochester man accused of stealing $100 worth of fried chicken from Giant Eagle in Leetsdale. Leetsdale Police charged Kendell K. Bowens, 33, with four counts of corruption of minors and one count of retail theft. Bowens appeared in court Tuesday without a lawyer, and Magisterial District Judge Robert Ford ordered him to return later this month with his lawyer. Police said Bowens walked out of Giant Eagle on April 2 with $100 worth of hot chicken. He drove off in a minivan onto Route 65, police said. Witnesses were able to jot down Bowens’ registration, which police said they traced to Holy Family Institute in Emsworth. An assistant manager at the grocery told police …
