Two Men Facing Trial on Labor Ready Theft Charges

Timothy Sepella and Joseph Stickles are accused of cashing stolen checks from the Leetsdale employment business.

Two Beaver County men accused of cashing stolen checks from Labor Ready will stand trial. Joseph Stickles, 39, of Hopewell Township, waived three counts of bad checks and one count each of theft and receiving stolen property to court.  Timothy Sepella, 28, of Ambridge, waived eight counts of writing bad checks, and one count each of forgery and theft.  Leetsdale police said Sepella stole checks from Labor Ready, where he previously worked in the office, and used an old typewriter to issue three checks to Stickles and eight to himself. Police said a total of $2,922 in checks were forged.  Labor Ready became aware of the theft in June after all of the checks bounced, police said. Both men have been ordered to repay the money within 90 days…

Woman Charged in Moon Drug Bust Waives Hearing

Former Moon resident Pamela Smallis appeared Tuesday in Coraopolis District Court.

A former Moon woman who police said used her children to sell drugs from her Stocker Drive home and on two occasions in Sewickley waived her right to a preliminary hearing on Tuesday.  Pamela Smallis, 48, of Oakdale is slated to face a formal arraignment Sept. 13 in the Allegheny County Court of Common Pleas. She was scheduled to attend a preliminary hearing Tuesday in Coraopolis District Court.  Smallis is charged with child endangerment, corruption of minors and drug possession after police said she met with informants to sell them drugs and narcotics on five different occassions in 2011.  Authorities said she frequently brought her children along when she made drug sales.  Smallis, who formerly worked for the Children's Palace daycare …

Employee Awaits Hearing, Accused of Forging Nearly $3,000 in Fake Pay Checks

A preliminary hearing was postponed for an Ambridge man accused of stealing checks from a local labor employment company where he worked and forging nearly $3,000. Leetsdale police charged Timothy Sepella, 28, of Ambridge, with eight counts of writing bad checks, and one count each of forgery and theft from Labor Ready off Route 65 in Leetsdale. According to a criminal complaint, Sepella had been working for Labor Ready in the office in a light-duty capacity and was supposed to destroy and dispose of the old payroll checks that were stored in the office. Instead, police said Sepella took around 150 checks and made out eight of them to himself.  He also made out three additional checks to a friend and a fourth check to another friend, …

District Court: Delivery Driver Waives DUI Charges to Court

An delivery driver who was taken last month to a Pittsburgh hospital after falling off the back of his truck has waived his right to a preliminary hearing last week. Brian Maclean, 43, of Beamsville, Ontario, is charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. Sewickley police reported that Maclean had to be transported to Allegheny General Hospital April 1 after suffering a severe cut on his leg and ankle while making a delivery to Robinson’s Home and Garden on Blackburn Road. Maclean was driving for Beamsville-based Foliera Logistics Inc. A witness told police that Maclean drove over and knocked down the stop sign at the intersection of Blackburn Road and Centennial Avenue, police said. After the incident, police said Maclean asked …

District Court: Burglary Suspects Waive Charges to Court

Two Glenshaw men waived their right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday at District Judge Robert Ford's office on charges of burglarizing several cars in Edgeworth and racking up nearly $10,000 in damage and thefts. David W. Landy, 24, and Ryan S. Marshall, 23, are charged with two counts of theft and one count of access device fraud, theft, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief. According to a criminal complaint, Edgeworth Police received several reports of vehicle break-ins on July 29, including one in the 400 block of Meadow Lane where police said the men shattered a car window and caused an estimated $4,375 in damage to the car. Sewickley Men Appear in Court on Trespass Charges at the Country Inn

Two Sewickley men accused of trespassingin August at the Sewickley Country Inn appeared Tuesday in court to face charges. Justin Chorba, 18, of Sewickley waived his right to a preliminary hearing on charges of burglary, criminal trespass, corruption of minors and receiving stolen property. He was released on a promise that he would return for a future court hearing. Connor MacDonald, 19, of Sewickley also appeared before District Judge Robert Ford on charges of criminal trespass, receiving stolen property and defiant trespass. MacDonald’s charges were withdrawn in exchange for a guilty plea to disorderly conduct, a summary offense. MacDonald also was ordered to pay a $300 fine plus court costs. Police: Former Pittsburgh Man Stole More Than $100,000 From ATM

James Zalin, now of Fairbanks, AK, will stand trial on charges he stole $103,480 from Citizen's Bank in Leetsdale.

Charges were recently waived against a former Pittsburgh man accused of stealing more than $100,000 from a Leetsdale bank. James Zalin, 28, of Fairbanks, AK, was ordered Tuesday to stand trial in Allegheny County Court on theft and receiving stolen property charges. According to a police affidavit, a fraud investigator with Citizen's Bank contacted Allegheny County police detectives back in 2008 after $103,480 in cash was discovered missing from the Citizen's Bank branch at the Giant Eagle in Leetsdale, detectives reported. Records from Citizen's Bank and Loomis Armored U.S., the vendor that makes  bi-weekly cash deliveries to the bank, both showed money went missing from the bank's ATM on six separate occasions between Feb. 19, 2008 and …
