Originally from Scott Township, Sandy Henry is the author of Carnegie, from Arcadia Publishing’s “Images of America” series. Henry’s rhyming picture book, A Child’s Bedtime Companion, was released by Ambassador Books, Inc., in November 2005. She is currently working on a new romantic thriller, My Bonny Lies.

Her first mystery, set in Pittsburgh, was Something Borrowed, Something Blue, published by Llumina Press in June 2004. The novel is peppered with local flavor, attractions and neighborhoods. The Steelers and The Clarks get a mention, along with our fair city’s quirky dinette-chair-at-the-curb method for securing wintry on-street parking.

Sandy has also been a contributor to the works of other writers, including Ben Costello’s Gunsmoke: An American Institution and Changing Course, a collection of empowering works by bestselling author Yitta Halberstam. The anthology includes essays and comments by such notables as Betty Rollin, Joyce Maynard, Oprah Winfrey and Susan Sarandon, among many others.

A marketing major in college, Sandy later received her paralegal certification from Penn State University. Her seven-year stint as a legal assistant in the areas of civil and criminal litigation has served her well in crafting romantic thrillers. She has also worked in the retail and telecom industries.

A lifelong resident of Pittsburgh’s South Hills area, Sandy currently resides with her husband Bill and a very sweet cat named Cale in the Baldwin Borough area.
